Frequently
asked.
Everything you need to know about HomeInvent.
Does HomeInvent work offline?
Yes. Inventory, photos, scanning, search and reports are stored and processed on your device. You need a network connection for App Store purchases, Restore Purchases, optional Apple Maps address lookup, and voice search when Apple’s speech recognition uses Apple’s servers.
Does HomeInvent upload my inventory to a HomeInvent server?
No. HomeInvent does not operate a cloud database for your inventory. This version does not use iCloud or CloudKit. Your homes, items and photos stay on the device unless you export or share them.
Can I restore my inventory on another device?
Not automatically. Export a backup ZIP from Settings → Privacy & Data on the old device, copy that file, then import it on the new device. Keep the ZIP until you have confirmed the import. Restoring purchases restores HomeInvent Pro, not your inventory.
What happens if I delete the app?
Local inventory is deleted with the app. Your Apple subscription is not canceled. After reinstall, Restore Purchases can unlock Pro again if the subscription is still active. Import a backup ZIP to bring inventory back.
What is HomeInvent Pro?
HomeInvent is free with limits: 1 home, 3 rooms, 3 boxes and 20 items you create. The Demo Home tour does not count toward those limits. Pro is an auto-renewable App Store subscription (monthly or yearly) that unlocks unlimited inventory. Apple bills your Apple ID. Prices are shown in the app. There are no ads and no HomeInvent account.
What happens when Pro ends?
Nothing is deleted. You can still view, edit, search and export a backup. Free limits apply to new homes, rooms, boxes and items. Some reports (Insurance Claim, High-Value Assets, Net Worth, Business Assets, Donation and Estate Distribution) require an active Pro subscription after Pro has ended. Canceling keeps Pro until the paid period ends.
Does HomeInvent use remote AI?
HomeInvent is designed to use Apple on-device technologies for supported recognition features and does not send your photos to a third-party cloud AI service.
Can I edit information detected by scanning?
Yes. Detected information should be reviewed and can be corrected manually.
Can I store receipts?
Yes. You can keep supported receipt images and related information with inventory records on this device. Include them in a backup ZIP if you want a copy off the device.
Does HomeInvent track my location?
HomeInvent does not need GPS location to organize items by rooms. Labels such as Kitchen, Bedroom or Garage are inventory organization labels, not GPS location data. You may optionally allow location once so Apple Maps can suggest a home address. You can type or search an address instead.
Does HomeInvent contain advertising?
HomeInvent is designed without in-app advertising.
What if an item isn't recognized?
You can add or correct its information manually. Recognition is designed to assist entry and may not identify every product or brand.
What is Insurance Policy Intelligence?
It is a separate feature from the Insurance Claim Package. You upload policy PDFs or scans for a home. HomeInvent reads them on this device, compares identified limits with your inventory, and lets you ask questions in plain language. It does not decide coverage or predict claims. See the feature overview.
Does HomeInvent send my policy to the cloud?
No. Policy files stay on this device, like photos and receipts. HomeInvent does not send them to a HomeInvent server or a third-party AI service.
